![]() ![]() I took a bit of flak for dwarf fortress, lol. Plus it looks nicer with tiles, and you don't look like quite as hipsterish when people see you using it. And memorizing what every symbol in the game represents would take a lot of time. If I wasn't able to use/equip stuff from my inventory I'd never get anything done. Makes me want to go try out the tiles version rather than playing through puTTY, but I'm trying to level up my neckbeard so I'll have to put that off. (Sometimes I get into the habit of just auto-explore/attack for the first 10 levels or so, and usually end up making some stupid mistake and dying to gnolls or something.) I had decided to start a new adventure and take it serious from the very start. Ok guys i got the dcss bug again and I couldnt resist just getting blazed and playing another hopr I recalled my troops, but it was too late. Unfortunately then I got hit with some trident of distortion and it blinked me into 6 naga mages. I blinked back and recalled my pathetic group of survivors and we zapped him before he could touch us again. He one shotted two high priests immediately, a regular priest, and a warrior like they were nothing. Ugh, ran into Xathu in a tight corridor on lvl 5 snake. Decided to see how far I could make it there without poison resist. Also found a +2/+1 battleaxe of chopping, so I imagine that is what I'll be using for a long time.įound snakes on L:3. The hardest part really is just controlling my men and making sure they dont charge off chasing something into the fog of war. Besides the occasional Black Mamba or Hydra trying to omnomnom my orcs, its been fairly easy. I'm went into full retreat mode, and now I am in the lair. I overextended on D:18 and lost a red sorc due to a bad positioning on a level transition, but I managed to save most of my guys and even promoted a few more. Im about to play some more and will update this as I go. No real threats at this point because once I start fighting, the High Priests and Sorcs just flood the screen with summons. Things are looking golden right now.Īrmy is growing nicely, and Blork also joined somewhere down the road. Gaurdian spirit amulet + some ring that gives more mana inflating my health by like 40 points. Found a rod of heal wounds, along with teleport and dig as well. So far, nothing harder than unseen horrors or those color changing things. Went down to lvl 17 without doing any branches yet. It was clear that my army would be mostly spell based this time: Ran into dragons and a huge flock of sheep gaurding the entrance of Lair. I ran into a orc red sorc and a large zombie squad gaurding mines. He had been using it, but I wanted the axe, so I sacrificed him to some monsters and took it. Eventually picked up a nice unique axe that dropped when a follower of mine died. Found plate armor in a sewer dungeon early on, and was gifted two priests and a sorc as soon as I hit 3* piety. I played a pretty uneventful first couple of levels. You can maybe still figure out what is going on though, and it's not that big a deal since they're pretty rare characters. ttyrec and it works fine I think.Įdit2: Note my water and maybe a couple other things are Unicode characters so termplay will freak out about them. roff format for some reason, just rename it to. The death to Rupert was partly bad luck and partly bad play if I'd read teleport again instead of trying to blink to safety there would have been no problems but I got lazy.Įdit: the second recording was saved in. It was a pretty interesting game since TeNe is a reasonably powerful but extremely fragile combo, so you can see what I do when I want to play well. I think this is long enough to give some insight into the early game and how I play in general the early game is actually the part you can learn the most from watching a good player play, since it is the hardest part of the game. I think I might play another Tengu after this but it will be a while before I comment another game it's quite tiring. #827 Well I died to lair Rupert paralyzing me after some not-optimal play. ![]()
